N2  - Ausgehend von einer Beschreibung der modernen conditio humana fragt diese Arbeit danach, was ein gelingendes Leben heute ausmachen könnte. Zentrale Referenzpunkte sind dabei antike und moderne hedonistische Ethiken, die genealogische Methode im Anschluss an Nietzsche und Foucault, soziobiologische Erkundungen, die Kontroverse um Freiheit und Determiniertheit des Menschen sowie wie die gegenwärtige „Glücksforschung“ und ausgewählte politische Theorien.
N2  - Starting from a description of the modern human condition, this work asks what might constitute a good life today. Central points of reference are ancient and modern hedonistic ethics, the genealogical method following Nietzsche and Foucault, sociobiological explorations, the controversy about human freedom and determinacy, as well as contemporary "happiness research" and selected political theories.
