N2 - The subject of the following thesis is the conceptualization of the psychological phenomenon of Internalized Homonegativity (IH; Shidlo, 1994). It describes the internalization of negative attitudes and behaviour towards homosexuality of persons with an orientation to the same sex. In this context, the constructs of heteronormativity and homonegativity can be regarded as basis of the introjections. Already existing definitions, which vary in kind and number of their dimensions, will be integrated into a new working definition. In this sense, the construct of IH will be defined by the factors Internalized Homonegativity and Internalized Homopositivism with one self-referred and one global sub-component each. Its antecedents and consequences in the sense of psychical sufferings or stress-related inner growth will be reflected while their correlates of the minority-stress-model will be taken into consideration (Meyer, 1995). Moreover, existing explicit and implicit diagnostic measurement instruments for the registration of IH with regard to their psychometric quality will be analyzed, as well as conceptual ideas about a measurement in the German speaking area will be offered.
