TY - THES A1 - Siede, Mechthild T1 - Phytomedizin in der Antike. Phytopathogene Einflüsse und ihre Wirkungsgeschichte im Lichte der Literatur von Homer bis Boethius T1 - Phytomedicine in the ancient world. Phytopathogenic influences and their impact from Homer to Boethius N2 - Die Dissertation untersucht die Vorstellungen über „kranke Pflanzen“ in der griechisch-römischen Antike. N2 - The dissertation examines the ideas about "diseased plants" in the ancient Greco-Roman world. The aim of the work is to illuminate this on the basis of written testimonies from Homer to Boethius at the beginning of the 6th century. Phytomedicine in the ancient world is presented in four fields of interest: in a lexical section the specific diseases and how to deal with them are discussed. Subsequently, their position with respect to scientific, social and poetological aspects is highlighted. The core of the work is the systematic presentation of ancient phytomedical knowledge of the individual plant diseases and other harmful factors as well as the countermeasures anchored in ancient literature.
