Der vorliegende Sammelband geht auf die UniGR-Fachtagung Edu.GR - Europa leben lernen / Edu.GR - Apprendre à vivre l’Europe zurück, die am 20. September 2018 an der Universität Trier stattfand. Die Beiträge befassen sich aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven – so aus Sicht der Bildungswissenschaften, der Fachdidaktiken, der Sozialwissenschaften und der Bildungspraxis – mit der Frage der Gestaltung Europas am Beispiel der Großregion. Vorgestellt und diskutiert werden neben Konzepten transnationaler Bildung auch empirische Analysen des Denkens und Handelns der Beteiligten in grenzregionalen (Aus-)Bildungskontexten sowie ausgewählte Beispiele transnationaler Bildungspraxis.

Petits pays ayant d’importants besoins de main-d’œuvre, le Luxembourg et la Suisse attirent tous deux un grand nombre de travailleurs frontaliers. C’est dans une perspective comparative que les 19 auteurs impliqués dans ce Cahier Thématique analysent la situation des travailleurs frontaliers dans les principaux pôles d’emploi transfrontaliers (Luxembourg, Bâle, Genève), mais également au Tessin. En tenant compte des éléments contextuels et méthodologiques, géographes, économistes, sociologues et politologues se focalisent sur les questions d’emploi, le quotidien transfrontalier et les perceptions des frontaliers par la société. Cette approche collective et pluridisciplinaire est résumée par les éditeurs en identifiant des enjeux communs pour le Luxembourg et la Suisse.

Au départ de la base de données de l’enquête Luxmobil 2017, cet article présente les principaux résultats relatifs aux distributions spatiales de l’emploi et des choix modaux liés aux déplacements domicile-travail des travailleurs actifs au Grand-Duché de Luxembourg, tant résidents que frontaliers. Cette analyse permet de mettre en évidence les importantes disparités quant à ces répartitions, la dépendance à la voiture prédominante et les conditions requises pour atteindre une part modale élevée en transports en commun. Face au défi européen de décarbonation d’ici 2050 et tenant compte des documents stratégiques nationaux et suprarégionaux, dans l’optique de coordonner l’urbanisation avec l'offre en transport en commun, une politique transfrontalière volontariste de type transit-oriented development apparait nécessaire.

Jedes Themenheft ist jeweils einer demokratiepädagogischen Bauform oder strategischen Frage der Schulentwicklung gewidmet. Die Praxishefte werden allen Luxemburger Schulen als Printausgabe zur Verfügung gestellt und online mit zusätzlichen Materialien und in französischer Fassung vorgehalten.

In and with this thematic issue we would like to invite you to engage in productive boundary work and to critically examine the relationship between nature and culture in the Anthropocene. A few years ago, the term Anthropocene was proposed by Paul Crutzen as a term for the current geological epoch, in which humankind (the ‘anthropos’) is seen as the central driving force for global changes in ecological systems. This epoch is characterized by the blurring of boundaries between society and nature, science and politics, as well as by the increased drawing of boundaries between social groups, lifestyles, and the Global North and Global South. With this issue, we would like to give an impetus to explore boundary phenomena in the relationship between nature and society, which up to now have not been the focus of Border Studies. The challenges and problems of the Anthropocene require cross-border thinking and research that stimulates a new reflexivity and commitment, to which the multidisciplinary field of Border Studies can contribute.
